Establishment of the NewComer Service/Invitation to the first NewComer Meeting

Dear International Researcher,

recruitment of qualified employees is nowadays an increasing challenge and a key factor to success. Drawn from scientific studies this conclusion proved to be true in our praxis based on numerous business contacts and as the result of the survey which we carried out in enterprises last year.

Salary and the attractiveness of vacant positions are crucial in the competition of specialists. However, there are other criteria which can make advertised jobs more attractive:

What does the city have to offer? How expensive is the relocation? Is the childcare provided? Will my partner have an opportunity to work? How quickly do you get to know new people? Answers to these questions are likely to influence the career choice of the potential employees.

To be able to provide active support in the challenge of recruiting skilled employees, the City of Aachen has established a “NewComer Service”.
