Dear Data Stewards, dear RDM-Manager,
This is a gentle reminder for our meeting tomorrow from 10am - 12 pm. You
can still register here:

https://rwth.zoom-x.de/meeting/register/u5wrcOirqT4qG9WzUHgfWiU2KC-GQLihxl2H
We are looking forward to contributions on the topic of data management
plans.
First, there will be an update on RDMO and the new features and then two
practical examples.
1.) Update RDMO
RDMO as a data management plan tool can be relevant for project groups that
complete a DMP together as a team. At the same time, the hierarchies can be
used to map a certain structure of the projects involved, which sometimes
makes it easier for data stewards to organize the work on the DMPs.
These and other possibilities will be demonstrated and discussed in the
presentation.
2.) Introducing the IoP Data Finder - Using RDMO to make research data
easier to find
The IoP Data Finder is a web application within the Internet of Production
(IoP) cluster of excellence which aims to improve the discoverability of
research data within the cluster. At its core, the finder uses the DMP
information provided by RDMO to provide researchers with a platform which
allows them to search for relevant research conducted in the IoP.
3.) From a Data Map to a Data Management Plan
In the Data Management Plan (DMP) presentation, participants will gain an
overview of the objectives of a DMP. They will learn how to approach a
research project while considering research data management and the
available infrastructure at their institution before initiating a new
project. This approach is practical and can be applied directly:
Step 1 involves creating a Data Map of the existing IT infrastructure of the
institution and/or the specific field of study.
Step 2 consists of translating this Data Map into a DMP that also addresses
the specific requirements of the respective project. We will introduce the
DMP tool RDMO as an example since it is used at RWTH. However, the approach
using the Data Map and the tool is agnostic and can be adapted to different
systems.
We will be happy to see you.

Liebe Data Stewards, liebe FDM-Manager,
erleichtern. Wir freuen uns auf Euch.

Betreff: Network Meeting in December and Januar
**English version below**
Liebe Data Stewards, liebe FDM-Manager,
matters an.
https://events.hifis.net/event/1107/ erforderlich.

Dear Data Stewards, dear RDM manager,
Research Data Day 2023 as a spectacular event is behind us. I hope you
enjoyed it as much as we did and were able to get lots of new ideas and
network.
In December (13.12.2023) we would like to end the year with a mulled wine at
the Christmas market. The meeting point is again the Hexenhof - Haxenhaus,
No. 123 on Münsterplatz at 11 am. Please let me know who is coming, it would
make planning easier. We look forward to seeing you.
In January (10.01.2024) we have planned a satellite event of the Research
Data Day for our network meeting.
The group of Mr. Hoffmann/ Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration will offer a
workshop on "Fundamentals of scientific metadata: why context matters". The
workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on our premises in the
University Library R 313.
In the workshop, several modules will be trained using a data set. The aim
is to understand the scientific data provided by a member of staff or your
own data and to recognize difficulties in meeting the data description
requirements of your funding institution. In this way, the data can have a
lasting value. This workshop will help you and the researchers to overcome
these difficulties.
A mandatory registration is required by 15.12.23 under the following link
https://events.hifis.net/event/1107/ . Due to the space available, the
workshop is limited to 20 participants.
Please forward the email to colleagues if you are unable to attend.
We provide further information, e.g. on the topic of the next network
meeting, via the mailing list: datastewards(a)lists.rwth-aachen.de
