*** english version below *** Liebe Coscine-Nutzende, nach einer kurzen Sommerpause erhalten Sie in diesem Newsletter einen Überblick über neu implementierte Features, vergangene Veranstaltungen im September und Oktober, einen Ausblick auf kommende Veranstaltungen und weitere Neuigkeiten. NFDI4Ing AAI (NFDI RegApp Community AAI) Bereits im letzten Newsletter angekündigt und nun endlich da: Eine neue Login Möglichkeit für Coscine! Sie können sich nun zusätzlich zum DFN-AAI und der ORCiD auch mit der NFDI4Ing AAI einloggen. Im Rahmen des Inkubator Projektes von IAM4NFDI wurde diese zusätzliche Login Möglichkeit implementiert und kann nun von allen Hochschulen genutzt werden. Falls Sie mehr darüber erfahren möchten, werfen Sie gerne einen Blick in die Dokumentation [1]. Data Publication Feature Ebenfalls im letzten Newsletter angekündigt wurde das Data Publication Feature. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein neues Feature in Coscine, durch das mit wenigen Klicken eine Datenpublikationsanfrage versendet werden kann. In der aktuellen Testphase steht hierfür nur RWTH Publications zur Auswahl. Es ist jedoch geplant, dass in Zukunft weitere Publikationsdienste anderer Hochschulen ebenfalls eingebunden werden. Weitere Informationen hierzu finden Sie ebenfalls in der Dokumentation [2]. Video Tutorials Es stehen nun Coscine Video Tutorials in englischer Sprache zur Verfügung, die Sie Schritt für Schritt durch die grundlegenden Funktionen der Plattform führen. Wir werden in Zukunft weitere Videos hinzufügen und freuen uns, wenn Sie schon jetzt einen Blick auf die vorhandenen Videos werfen [3]. Veranstaltungen Auch wenn im September kein Newsletter erschienen ist, war Coscine bei einigen Veranstaltungen präsent. Unter anderem beim Young Academics Day (YAD) am 5. September 2024, welcher an der RWTH Aachen stattgefunden hat und für Doktoranden, Postdocs und Forschende ausgerichtet wurde. Coscine war an diesem Tag mit einem Marktstand vertreten und es konnte ein Kreuzworträtsel mit Fragen rund um Forschungsdatenmanagement im Allgemeinen und Coscine im Speziellen beantwortet werden. Dadurch sind einige spannende Diskussionen entstanden, von denen das Coscine Team viele wertvolle Anregungen mitnehmen konnte. Ein Nachbericht zum YAD findet sich außerdem auf dem FDM-Blog [4]. Am 10. September 2024 fand außerdem eine Präsentation zum Thema Coscine What was, what is and what will be? im Rahmen des RDM-Seminars von HPC.NRW statt. Während der Online-Präsentation wurden neue Features von Coscine vorgestellt sowie Informationen rund um Speicherplatzanträge gegeben. Falls Sie den Vortrag verpasst haben und sich das Video gerne im Nachgang anschauen möchten, finden Sie dieses bei YouTube [5]. Ein Coscine-Nutzendenworkshop fand am 10.Oktober 2024 online statt. Der Nutzendenworkshop diente der Einführung in die Grundfunktionen von Coscine, wozu zunächst eine Live-Demonstration der Plattform und im Anschluss eine Hands-On Session stattfand. Dadurch konnten die Teilnehmenden sich in Coscine einloggen, die Projekt- und Ressourcenerstellung sowie das Hinzufügen von anderen Mitgliedern zu Projekten eigenständig üben. Am Ende blieb außerdem noch Zeit, um offene Fragen zu klären. Anfang November 2024 startet die Workshop Reihe FDM-II mit einem Basis-Workshop zu Coscine. Zudem wird es einen Workshop zu Metadaten-Grundlagen und das Erstellen von Metadatenprofilen geben. Als Abschluss der Workshop Reihe findet der Workshop rund um automatisierte (Meta-)Datenübertragung nach Coscine statt. Dieser wird als einziger der drei Veranstaltungen in Präsenz, im Schulungsraum 313 der RWTH Aachen, stattfinden. Die Anmeldung ist für alle drei Module noch möglich. Informationen dazu finden Sie auf der Webseite von Coscine [6]. Am Tag der Forschungsdaten am 12. November 2024 ist Coscine ab 13:30 Uhr mit einem Poster bei den Thementischen der lokalen Netzwerke vertreten. Weitere Informationen zur Anmeldung finden Sie auf der Webseite von Coscine [7]. Sonstiges Auf der Coscine-Webseite, Dokumentation sowie auf der Plattform selbst haben wir nun den Begriff Applikationsprofil in Metadatenprofil umgeändert. Dadurch wird es in Zukunft für die Forschenden noch einfacher zu verstehen sein, was durch ein Metadatenprofil abgebildet wird und wie dieses innerhalb von Coscine genutzt werden kann. Im Zuge des letzten Deployments gab es zudem ein Update der Organisationsgraphen, sodass nun alle eingetragenen Organisationen mit einer ROR-ID im Nutzendenprofil in Coscine ausgewählt werden können. Darüber hinaus wurde im Nutzendenprofil das Feld Institut entfernt und Sie können von nun an nur noch Ihre zugehörige Organisation eintragen. Außerdem möchten wir Sie gerne darüber informieren, dass vor Kurzem die Nutzungsbedingungen von Coscine aktualisiert wurden. Falls nicht schon geschehen, müssen Sie diese bei Ihrem nächsten Login zu Coscine erneut akzeptieren. NFDI4Ing AAI (NFDI RegApp Community AAI) Already announced in the last newsletter and now finally here: A new login option for Coscine! You can now log in with NFDI4Ing AAI in addition to DFN-AAI and ORCiD. This additional login option was implemented as part of the IAM4NFDI Incubator project and can now be used by all universities. If you would like to learn more about it, please take a look at the documentation [1]. Data Publication Feature Also announced in the last newsletter was the Data Publication Feature. This is a new feature in Coscine that allows a data publication request to be sent with just a few clicks. In the current test phase, only RWTH Publications is available for submission. However, it is planned that in the future, further publication services from other universities will also be integrated. Further information can also be found in the documentation [2]. Video Tutorials Coscine video tutorials are now available in English to guide you step by step through the basic functions of the platform. We will be adding more videos in the future and would be delighted if you would take a look at the existing videos now [3]. Events Even though there was no newsletter in September, Coscine was present at a variety of events. These included the Young Academics Day (YAD) on September 5, 2024, which took place at the RWTH Aachen University and was aimed at doctoral students, postdocs and researchers. Coscine had a market stand at the event where visitors could answer a crossword puzzle with questions about research data management in general and Coscine in particular. This led to some exciting discussions, from which the Coscine team was able to take away many valuable suggestions. A follow-up report on the YAD can also be found on the RDM blog [3]. On September 10, 2024, a presentation on the topic Coscine - What was, what is and what will be? also took place as part of the RDM seminar by HPC.NRW. During the online presentation, new features of Coscine were presented and information about storage space requests was given. If you missed the presentation and would like to watch the video afterwards, you can find it on YouTube [4]. A Coscine user workshop took place online on 10 October 2024. The user workshop served as an introduction to the basic functions of Coscine, starting with a live demonstration of the platform and followed by a hands-on session. This allowed participants to log into Coscine, practise creating projects and resources and adding other members to projects on their own. There was also time at the end to clarify any unanswered questions. Beginning of November 2024, the workshop series RDM-II will start with a basic workshop on Coscine. In addition, there will be a workshop on metadata basics and creating metadata profiles. The workshop series will conclude with a workshop on automated (meta)data transfer to Coscine. This will be the only one of the three events to take place in person, in training room 313 at RWTH Aachen University. Registration is still possible for all three modules. You can find more information on the website of Coscine. Coscine will be present at the topic tables of the local networks with a poster from 1:30 p.m. on the Research Data Day on November 12, 2024. Further information regarding registration can be found on the website of Coscine [7]. Other On the Coscine website, documentation and on the platform itself, we have now changed the term application profile to metadata profile. This will make it even easier for researchers in the future to understand what is represented by a metadata profile and how it can be used within Coscine. In the course of the last deployment, the organisation graphs were also updated so that all registered organisations with an ROR ID can now be selected in the user profile in Coscine. In addition, the Institute field has been removed from the user profile and from now on you can only enter your associated organisation. Furthermore, we would like to inform you that the Coscine Terms of Use have recently been updated. If you have not already done so, you will need to accept them again the next time you log in to Coscine.
