unfortunately there is no newer version.
An alternative is to use the pre-installed Virtual Machine available for
download.
I cc: compass-support, in case some colleagues have additional suggestions.

Unfortunately, the version 3.0 from 2016 does not run on current
versions of Ubuntu anymore (due to gtk2 being deprecated on those
