FYI.

Massimo says he was able to run the VM using a previous version of VMWare, namely 6.0.3, the one I am using.

sono riuscito a far funzionare la VM. Bisogna uitlizzare VMWare 6.0.3, con le versioni successive non va. Questa settimana sono incasinato, faccio delle prove dalla settimana prossima in poi.

Dear Massimo,

I discussed this internally with the Consortium.

I am not able to reproduce the problem, since on my Windows laptop I can run the compass 2.3 VM using VMWare 6.0.3. The VM is 32-bit, so your target PC Operating System should be OK.

Could you first double check that the VM was correctly downloaded and unpacked?

If so, the only other suggestion we have is to try a different client, e.g. Virtualbox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) and use the .ovf format in the distribution.
