Liebe CES-Studierende,
auch dieses Jahr habt ihr wieder die Möglichkeit mathematische
Modellierung in spannenden, aktuellen Forschungsthemen anzuwenden!
Die *CAMMP week Pro* ist eine Woche zur computergestützten
mathematischen Modellierung, bei der Studierende verschiedener
Studiengänge eine Woche lang, unterstützt durch Doktorand:innen und
Professor:innen, an aktuellen Forschungsthemen des Forschungszentrum
Jülich arbeiten. Die Themen reichen beispielsweise von Elektrostatik,
Molekulardynamik, Robuster Optimierung im Energiesektor, über den
Daten-Fit von Schwerewellen bis hin zur Bildverarbeitung und
Visualisierung von Proteinketten. Dabei wird in einer Gruppe gemeinsam
ein Projekt bearbeitet, am Ende der Modellierungswoche werden die
erzielten Ergebnisse den Problemsteller:innen und weiteren Gästen
präsentiert.
Während der CAMMP week Pro lernt ihr nicht nur Studierende aus anderen
Studiengängen und Semestern kennen, sondern könnt zudem Kontakte zu
Dozierenden des Forschungszentrums knüpfen und ggf. spannende Themen für
Abschlussarbeiten und Hiwi-Jobs ausloten.
Die Veranstaltung findet in der Exkursionswoche vom 20.05. — 24.05. in
einer Jugendherberge in Simmerath (Eifel) statt. Für die Teilnahme an
der CAMMP week Pro wird ein Unkostenbeitrag von voraussichtlich 70 €
erhoben. Dieser beinhalten Unterkunft und Verpflegung in der
Jugendherberge.
Die CAMMP week Pro kann euch (auch als Vorzugsfach) im CES - Master als
mathematisches Wahlfach mit 3CP anerkannt werden.
*Anmeldung*: Anmelden könnt ihr euch via RWTHonline über das *Seminar
Computergestützte Mathematische Modellierung *oder, falls RWTHonline
nicht will, per Mail an engelhardt(a)acom.rwth-aachen.de.

There is an interesting open PhD position at the university of Marseille (France) in the field of microfluidics, acoustics and biomedical application. The candidate should carry out simulations in the acoustofluidics field, first in micro-channels to compare the results to experiments, then the code will be modified to better reproduce the bone cell environment.

The second session is planned as a hands-on workshop where participants will be programming the operator splitting method and dynamic time stepping that was described in the first session's lecture. The participants will be programming and graphing outputs.
It would be best (but not required) if participants used Mathematica, MatLab, Python, or similar environments that package programming and graphing together. Files that are necessary for the workshop will be provided as a zip download using a tinyurl.
