Der Lehrstuhl für Computergestützte Analyse Technischer Systeme (CATS) und der Lehrstuhl für Technologie Optischer Systeme (TOS) sind auf der Suche nach engagierten AbschlussarbeiterInnen, die sich mit einem praktischen Anwendungsfall von FEM Simulationen beschäftigen wollen. Im Speziellen geht es um die thermooptische Simulation der inhomogenen Temperaturverteilung in einer Linse, die durch einen Laserstrahl verursacht wird. Die Abschlussarbeit sollte noch dieses Jahr anfangen. Wer Interesse hat oder mehr Informationen möchte kann gerne einen Blick in den Anhang werfen und uns einfach direkt anschreiben. Dear CES Students, At SLA, we are developing a software framework for the Finite Cell Method (FCM), and we need you as a programmer! The FCM has tons of advantages compared to the FEM and has the potential to supersede it for many problems of structural mechanics. At present, it is used for the prediction of part distortion in the project VoKoES<https://www.sla.rwth-aachen.de/cms/Institut-fuer-Strukturmechanik-und-Leich…>, funded by EFRE NRW<https://www.efre.nrw.de/>. We are looking for someone to support us with expert knowledge in various fields of software development. Your tasks will be: • Different aspects of coding and software maintenance • Give advice with your IT knowledge • Set up our code for cross-platform compatiblity • Implementation of workflows for the FCM framework Your required skills are: • Good knowledge of C++ • Experience in software development • Knowledge of best practices in software development • Experience with Git • Experience with working in Linux environments would be a plus • Good English skills • German skills would be a plus I am looking forward to your application. Job Offer: Student Assistant - Fluid Simulation using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)

Dear CES Students, we at the Computer Animation Group (https://animation.rwth-aachen.de) are seeking qualified HiWi's to assist in current research tasks. Our groups main area of study is the simulation of rigid-bodies, deformable-solids and fluids with applications in virtual-prototyping, medical simulation, computer games and special effects. As a part of a cooperation with the ISF (Welding and Joining Institute) we are working on extending the capabilities of our open source particle-based fluid-simulation framework SplishSplash (https://github.com/InteractiveComputerGraphics/SPlisHSPlasH), to be more consistent with specific requirements from an engineering perspective. Possible Tasks: - Help with implementation work and necessary improvements for our fluid simulator - Running and evaluating simulations - Reconstructing fluid geometry and rendering scenes for videos Requirements: - Experience programming in C++/ Python - Interest in/ experience with fluid simulation - Desire to work on current research topics in simulation and engineering We offer: - The ability to work remotely as long as contact restrictions are in place, as well as a workplace at our office - Close contact with our research group consisting of engaged researchers and HiWi's who will gladly answer questions and help out with issues - The option to continue working on different projects related to physically-based simulation in the future If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to me by E-Mail at jeske(a)cs.rwth-aachen.de.
