Each year La Fête presents to the Cannes Film Market its latest films. This year, we are pleased to inform you of the screening dates of MADAME BROUETTE, a Canadian, French and Senegalese co-production, shot in Senegal. May 17 15: 30 Olympia 5 May 18 20: 00 Palais J May 20 17:30 Arcades 3 MADAME BROUETTE won the SILVER BEAR for BEST MUSIC at the Berlin Film Festival in February, in March was awarded the 3rd JURY PRIZE AT THE MILAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL and beginning of April at the PARIS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL the film went out with the "SPECIAL JURY AWARD" and with the " BEST ACTOR AWARD ". The story: Proud and independent, Mati, nicknamed Madame Brouette survives by pushing her cart through the pathways of the market in Sandaga. Divorced, she shares with her daughter Ndèye and her friend Ndaxté, a dream of opening a snack bar which will allow them to make a living in dignity. She's had her fill of men and wants nothing more to do with them. But fate has other ideas and gets her to meet Naago, a local policeman, a charmer, a smooth talker, and Mati falls in love again despite everything. And then one fine day at dawn, the Niayes Thiokeert district (Partridge Hill) is awakened to the sound of gunfire. In front of panic-stricken neighbours, Naago emerges from Mati's house riddled with bullets and collapses to the ground. What on earth could have pushed Madame Brouette to take such extreme actions?... but is it really her who pulled the trigger?. We would be most pleased to welcome you at any of these screenings.
