SYNOPSIS
³B.I.K.E.² is an exploration of the Black Label Bicycle Club (BLBC) and the
wider freak bike subculture that has grown up around it. Started in
Minneapolis in 1994 BLBC has inspired rival clubs and grown into an
international subculture with hundreds of members worldwide.
Comprised mainly of artists driven by anti-materialism and a belief that the
impending apocalypse will render cars useless and bicycles in power, BLBC
battles mainstream culture and rival gangs for its vision of a better
tomorrow.
Shot on location in New York City, Minneapolis, London, Paris, and
Amsterdam.
Pulling threads from Critical Mass and the wider bike counterculture,
B.I.K.E.
is a definitive look at the intersection of subculture, radical politics,
group dynamics and personal identity.

"The film's fast-paced editing is comparable to Tarantino and Guy Richie
when he was good. The music is also excellent and, most importantly,
the laughs come thick and fast. All in all it's a thrilling ride. An
incredibly funny film " - Brian Campbell, The Irish News, 3rd March

In 1999 a party of 41 Romanians arrived at Dublin Airport, posing as a
folk choir and band en route to participate in a festival in Sligo, for
which their application had been accepted. After clearing passport
control, some applied for asylum and the others disappeared without
trace.
Their visas were issued by Barry Mulligan, an Irishman who runs an
advertising agency in Bucharest and acted as Ireland's honorary consul.
Now he's scripted an offbeat comedy caper based on this story, lacing it
with zany Oirishness and frenzied gypsy music. John Ford meets Emir
Kusturica.
A Mell Wade Films production shot on location in Ireland and Romania,
'What Means Motley?' is executive produced by Rod Weinberg and Andrew
Stear. The film is produced by John Ketchum, John Riley, (who also
direct), Barry Mulligan and Dave Duce.
Rod Weinberg, Executive Producer, will be in Cannes from 16-23 May 2006.
