Dear all,
Please find attached the petition where you can support *with your
signature* the Czech filmmakers in their struggle for better conditions
regarding their national cinematography.
The new Law for the support of the Czech Cinematography was supposed to
increase the amount of money from 2 Mio Euro to 10-15 Mio Euro in the
State Fund which supports national film production.
This new law was approved in February 2006 by the Parliament. In May 12
the President vetoed the law and it went back to the Parliament where it
was rejected unexpectedly May 23.
The fact that the Czech politicians refuse to provide for their film
artists a platform that enables them to co-produce with their European
colleagues and by this to make Czech films be known worldwide is highly
counterproductive to the national film production.
Your support from abroad would help us a lot in fighting for better
conditions for Czech films that are standard in other European countries.
When you think you can support us kindly *print the petition on the
stationary of your company, institution or organization* and send it
back by fax to us. *Fax-No: +420 22 11 05 303*
You may download the German, French or Spanish language version from our
web site: www.filmcenter.cz
Thank you!
