Festival do Rio is the top showcase in Brazil and the largest Latin American audiovisual event, bringing together, every year, professionals from all areas of the industry, especially from Latin America, Europe and the US. During these 15 day event, the festival gathers producers, sales agents, broadcasters and many other audiovisual professionals from all over the world.
Besides the screening of films, an important segment of the Festival do Rio is the Rio Screenings & Seminars, that is showcase and seminars. While rioseminars approaches important themes to the industry, besides bringing information about new trends and technologies, the rioscreenings will be dedicated to exhibitions of the most recent world productions, equipped with video and dvd cabins. This is a great opportunity to show and buy audiovisual products from Brazil and other countries.
>From the 26th of September to the 5th of October, at the Le Meridién Hotel, the most important executives from different sections of the audiovisual industry (Cinema, TV, Home, Entertainment, Internet and Mobile Companies), will be meeting and joining the international seminars, lectures and workshops, where panelists and participants will analyse, discuss and create release strategies to foreign and brazilian movies, and will also be able to watch the most recent productions and take part on business meetings.
This year, the rioseminars will debate themes such as “the impact of new technologies at the audiovisual industry” – professionals from all over the world will participate on a series of panels that will present, analyze and clarify the new perspectives and technologies. The main purpose is to create a research about the new acquisitions, partnerships and co-production projections, such as the remarkable increase of the investments from the television networks and mobile content. It will also debate how product placement is getting positive results, and it will still include a prospect of the benefits and damages of piracy at the Digital Era.

And the best part is that for nearly all of the situations we set up,
the guests are willing to accept material directly from our small
group of writers, whether they have representation or not. Sherwood
Oaks Experimental College specializes in organizing screenwriting
events which gives writers access to the top agents, producers and
studio executives in Hollywood. It brings in industry players to
personally meet with writers and keeps the groups small to allow the
writers to interact with each and every guest. In 2005 James Cameron,
Kevin Costner, David Duchovney, Morgan Freeman, Michael London, Gary
Marshall, Hillary Swank, David Mamet and many others have appeared.
Sherwood Oaks Experimental College also takes small groups to award
shows like the Directors Guild Award Show, he Producers Guild Awards,
the Writers Guild Awards, and the Emmys. It has held screenwriting
events at many Hollywood Studios, including Sony, MGM, FOX, Universal
and Paramount.

* The Megahit Movies Book*
The new 500+ page edition analyzes *The Megahit Movies*, those films
which have generated more than $250 million in North American Box
Office receipts. It presents principles of story construction that
can be used to develop popular movies by providing an analysis of
cinematic techniques. It also offers stimulating ideas that can be
helpful in the creative process. The book is designed for writers,
directors and producers who want to create commercially successful
films. The fundamentals of dramatic structure, the human emotions,
and the construction of humorous characters and situations are
explained, with examples drawn from some of the most popular motion
pictures Hollywood has ever produced.
The Foreword to the book is written by Christopher Lockhart,
Executive Story Editor, International Creative Management (ICM), in
which he discusses what Producers, Agents and Studios are looking for
when reading scripts.
This book discusses the recent megahit-blockbuster movies such as
SPIDER-MAN, SHREK, HARRY POTTER, BRUCE ALMIGHTY, MATRIX TRILOGY,
FINDING NEMO, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
