URBAN ISLANDS® COMPETITION
URBAN ISLANDS® ( THE ISLAND OF CINEMA), now in its X edition, is an international film festival held on the enchanting banks of the Tiber Island, in Rome. The festival stages high level events such as world film premières, special events featuring international actors and directors, meetings and art films exhibitions, in addition to offering "windows" on the film industry of 10 world countries every year ( see the Web Site of the last edition : www.isoladelcinema.com ).
This international network will be the background against which the 2004 edition of the festival will launch the "URBAN ISLANDS® COMPETITION", the international short films competition dedicated to the metropolis narrated in films ( July 2004 ).
This project, born out of the images conjured by the theme of the city, aims to be the central focus of the identity of our festival, and promotes Rome as a great film capital welcoming European and world cities. This is, in synthesis, the proposed theme :
The short films selected will compete for the following awards:
1) " Metropolis Award" assigned by Jury members to the best short of the concourse. The Metropolis Award is sponsored by Shortvillage and consists of a distribution contract for the winning entry throughout the network of "Shortvillage Cinema", the biggest short factory in Italy
2) "Cantiereuropa Award" assigned by Cantiereuropa Association to the best European short.
3) "Kodak Award" assigned by public for the best italian short.
4) There will be an "out-of-competition" still inherent to the theme of Urban Islands®, for films and materials of various formats, reflecting the diverse forms of expression and experimentation by filmmakers seeking new media of expression.
Please send your VHS ( PAL / NTSC ) cassette, toghether with your entry form filled in to :
- L'ISOLA DEL CINEMA - Via Carlo Armellini, 16 - 00153 Roma
Tel e Fax +39 06 5811060 - email: info(a)urbanislands.net

We are looking forward to seeing your work .

Giorgio Ginori

Alain Siritzky (the man who financed the first "Emmanuelle") produces in Los Angeles within the framework of his company, "Alain Siritzky Productions", soft-erotic series and films, which are considered the "top of the line" of this type of product.
Testimony to this is that his films are shown around the world via videograms and top television channels, such as HBO (Cinemax) in the USA, In Demand (Pay-Per-View) in the USA, LAPTV (Latin America), SKY (New Zealand), ZoneVision (Hungary and Poland), REN-TV (Russia), Televisa (Mexico), BskyB (Pay-Per-View UK), BLOCKBUSTER (very successful VOD try-out in the UK), etc...
With the DVD exploitation explosion and more and more cable channels (pay-tv, premium and basic), as well as free television channels showing this product and opening slots for soft-erotic programming, we would be pleased to see some of our business friends and welcome new companies at the forthcoming MIP-TV, in Cannes (March 29th - April 2nd) at:
