Dear BeBuddy members,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Here are some interesting information for you:

1)    The International Office is looking for students assistants in the Incoming Student Services

You are looking for a student assistant job at RWTH? You are motivated and committed and you like to interact with people, especially from other cultures? You are fluent in spoken and written German and you have very good English language skills? Please have a look at the following announcement.

2)    You want to help internationals in learning German? Sign up as a German tutor and get your commitment recognized (Certificate International)

To all our German speaking students: Sign up as a German tutor and help your international fellows to learn German in a nice and relaxed atmosphere.

The International Office organizes German mentoring meetings in the Humboldthaus every Friday, 1-3pm. German speaking students act as tutors to international students and provide them with additional support in learning German. You can just sit and talk about different topics, exchange interesting information about your studies or read German newspapers or other interesting texts together. Eight hours of work as a German tutor are recognized as a component of the Certificate International.

If you are interested, please contact Ms. Stanislava Petkova (stanislava.petkova@zhv.rwth-aachen.de) and add your name to the list: https://doodle.com/poll/85udvtqyymur3ucp

3)    Get active as a Welcome Week Volunteer (Component of the Certificate International, group 2)

The Welcome Week for new international students will be taking place this year from September 20 to September 28, 2019. We look for volunteers to welcome our new international freshmen.

If you would like to support us and take over a task during the week while experiencing the international atmosphere of RWTH, register as a Welcome Week Volunteer by writing an email to welcomeweek@rwth-aachen.de  by 1 August 2019. Further information will follow soon by the organization team of the Welcome Week.

If you complete five hours of volunteering or more during the Welcome Week, you can get this recognized as part of the Certificate International.

You can find further information at www.rwth-aachen.de/welcomeweek and here. We are looking forward to your registration!

4)    Information on sexual harassment and discrimination for RWTH students

The Equal Opportunity Office has written a handbook on sexual harassment and discrimination. The handbook, which is now also available in English, provides guidance on prevention, awareness and assistance in dealing with sexual harassment and discrimination. Printed copies can be requested from the Equal Opportunities Office. You can also download the document here: www.rwth-aachen.de/gsb

The University's Equal Opportunities Officers, Dr. Ulrike Brands and Dr. Michaela Weishoff-Houben, also offer confidential advice by appointment. E-mail: ulrike.brands@gsb.rwth-aachen.de and michaela.weishoff@gsb.rwth-aachen.de

5)    “RWTH Hits the Road” photo contest – Seize your opportunity to show your favorite picture and to win valuable prizes

Are you currently studying abroad? Or relaxing on holidays? Your busy on a business trip? Are you an international student discovering Aachen? RWTH students, employees and alumni are always on the go! To celebrate your international experiences, RWTH International Office warmly invites you to take part in the “RWTH Hits the Road” photo contest.

Regardless if you are from Aachen, somewhere abroad or an international student having your own experiences in Aachen – we want you to share your happiest, most charming, exciting, or unusual summer experience with us. Send us your best picture and with a bit of luck, you may win gift certificates for the RWTH Shop! The best pictures will be put in an exhibition in Mensa Academica in November.

Send us your photo by October 7, 2019, and our Facebook fans will vote for their favorite photo. Insider Tip: Your photo should be taken outside the campus and have a visible reference to RWTH e.g. an RWTH accessory or logo (posters are available to download) or your own creative solution.

You can find more information on how to register here. We are looking forward to your photos!

Have a nice start into the week.
