AISA is all set to start off this New Year in a remarkable way with many things on its plate.

3) Queerreferat invites to the reading „Fa(t)shionista: Rund und glücklich durchs Leben“
Magda Albrecht, author and queer-feminist activist, will come by the Referat and read parts from her 2018 at the Ullstein Verlag published book „Fa(t)shionista: Rund und glücklich durchs Leben“. The reading will be in German and start at 8pm at Queerreferat, Trichtergasse 14, Aachen. The event is organized in cooperation with the DGB Jugend NRW and the Frauennetzwerk Aachen.
Magda Albrecht was born 1986 in Stralsund and grew up in Berlin. She majored in North America studies and works in public relations, as an author and as an educator about politics. Magda also focuses on queer-feminist activism, body norms and resistance (movements). Furthermore she is a musician e.g. at Totally Stressed.

5) Start 2019 with poetry and music at the Jazz Slam by ASTA RWTH Aachen
For many years the so-called “Hörsaal- Slam”, one of the biggest poetry slams in Germany, has enjoyed increasing popularity. Now it's time for a new format!
Combine the liveliest form of literature with one of the most free forms of music and you get the Jazz Poetry Slam. For the third time in Aachen, renowned slam poets* will perform on stage together with an outstanding jazz trio in order to present a unique and unique performance. During the performance, the musicians transform the mood of the texts into tones and sounds that accompany, amplify or even contrast the spoken word. Look forward to the best entertainment with humour and depth, musically accompanied by brilliant instrumentalists!

1) Save the date: Student Christmas Market on Dec 11, 3-10pm!
Christmas market all over again, wet feet, freezing rain, totally overcrowded and still nothing new to explore ? Not this year!
The Student Christmas Market will also this winter serve as an example of how diverse and colorful christmas is celebrated all over the world, so there will be plenty of room for music, performances and creative ideas along with different join-in activities. Of course we didn't forget about a traditional mulled wine (Glühwein) booth! Here traditional mulled wine (Glühwein) and hot punch will not only keep your hands warm, but also support local charity projects.
Curious?Join the second Christmas market organized by students for everybody! The Christmas market will take place 11th of December at Humboldt-Haus of the RWTH Aachen (Pontstraße 41).
Many different student initiatives will offer international specialties, colourful waffles, cakes, cookies, mulled wine, christmassy cocktails and much more, everything made with lots of love.
All profits of the day will be donated to non-profit projects and social organizations.
The market starts at 3 pm and the last mulled wine will be served at 10 pm. Entry is totally free! Bring along your roommates, grandparents or even your pet, everybody is very welcome!

2) Invitation: Kalima Project @Aachen - Arab Culture Weekend
Experience arabic culture with all your senses: the Project Kalima (arab. for word) is coming to Aachen bringing along impressions of young artists on their way to and within Europe. The weekend packed with an art exhibition, film screenings, a theatre performance, discussions and concerts awaits you! Additionally on Saturday evening we want to celebrate and dance to the beats of the palestinian DJane Rasha Hilwi.
Be a part of this interactive get together with the arabic culture in exile and take the opportunity to connect with the artists.The group أورشينا-Orschina from Berlin has initialized the Project Kalima and they have already visited different German cities since the beginning of this year. 3) Talentscouting Aachen: Insider wanted
Talentscouting Aachen is a cooperative project between the city’s two universities, the RWTH and the FH Aachen. It was primarily launched in the Aachen region (Aachen and the districts Düren, Euskirchen and Heinsberg) to promote and encourage educational justice and equal opportunities for children of families with no academic background or experience.

INCAS stands for INtercultural Centre of Aachen Students and is a student organization, which is financially and logistically supported by the International Office of RWTH Aachen and FH Aachen. They cordially invite you to join the INCAS trip to Trier:
In the morning, you will take the bus to Trier. After arrival, you will have a guided city tour
which will lead you through 2000 years of history. The group will visit all important sights of Trier,
such as the roman town gate Porta Nigra, the impressive Konstantinbasilica and the roman
thermal springs, the “Kaiserthermen”, once the biggest in the Roman Empire.
Afterwards, you will have time to explore Trier on your own.

The International Office organizes German mentoring meetings in the Humboldthaus every Friday, 1-3pm. German speaking students act as tutors to international students and provide them with additional support in learning German. You can just sit and talk about different topics, exchange interesting information about your studies or read German newspapers or other interesting texts together.

3) Association for Cultural Exchange (ACE) is looking for you!
Do you want to make your student exchange special? Join ACE’s international community, share your interests and ideas with them and make new friends from all over the world!
ACE (Association for Cultural Exchange) is a student organization at the RWTH Aachen University, promoting cultural exchange between international students and local students.
What does ACE do?
At ACE, there are several ACE Mentors Groups, consisting of several international students as well as two locals. As a group, there will be several activities (which is completely dependent on the dynamics and participation within the group) such as cooking together, going out, travelling, sports etc. Of course you can also suggest ideas of your own.
But wait! That's not all: Throughout the whole semester, ACE will also have some bigger events where you can meet other members and participants from other groups as well! In the past, they celebrated Karneval together (a local festivity) and travelled to Malaga for a weekend, just to name a few.

4) RWTH Intercultural training – focus India and China
You are planning a stay abroad in China or India? You are fascinated by (one of) these countries and their rich culture? You plan to mentor a student coming from China or India? Then feel free to subscribe to the free-of-charge intercultural training with focus on India or China given by two expert trainers.
During this 2-day training, you will enhance your intercultural competence and get to know different cultural values. You can learn more about the differences and similarities between your native culture and the Chinese or Indian culture.
The first day will focus on giving you a general insight into intercultural communication. During the second day, the group will split – there will be a group focusing on China and another focusing on India. You can decide to which group you want to belong.

4) Welcome Week Event: Global Village in Humboldt- Haus, Sept 28
Humboldt-Haus (Pontstraße 41) is the intercultural center of RWTH Aachen University, where many international student associations hold their office hours and host various events such as International Tuesday from INCAS, dance workshops, cultural events, themed parties and much more.
On 28 September, we are transforming the Humboldt-Haus into a Global Village. Celebrate cultural diversity at RWTH Aachen along with international student associations AISA, AIESEC, BEST, INCAS, EESTEC, MexAS and the Queerreferat.

5) Support Aachen’s biggest Judo event – the University sports center is looking for volunteers
Become part of the team and support the biggest Judo event in Aachen, as this year, the judo community Aachen will host the DHM (“Deutsche Hochschulmeisterschaft”) in Judo 2018 from October 12th to 14th. The DHM is getting closer and closer and therefore, the University Sports Center (Hochschulsportzentrumm) is urgently looking for volunteers to support them at the event!
There are many areas in which you can be active:
· Sports program Friday 12.10 to Sunday 14.10 .
· This includes hall construction, hall dismantling and list leader
· Technique: Maintenance and assembly, Friday to Sunday.
· Friday, technical setup in the competition hall, Saturday and Sunday for technical support and too naturally for dismantling technical equipment.
· Accreditation, Friday
· Accommodation: signposting and supervision, Friday to Sunday.
· Here, the sports center urgently need night guards!
· Breakfast: Construction and distribution, Saturday and Sunday.
· Here the early birds among you are requested, because the breakfast buffet has to be set up and ready at 7:00 and the athletes must be supplied and later on dismantled at 9:00.
· Catering: Box office and food serving, Saturday and Sunday.
· Award ceremony: Support, Saturday and Sun.
· They need a few medal holders that help them during the medal distribution.

· Free admission to the best sportsman party ever!
· As a thank-you for all helpers, the sports center organizes a volunteer dinner on the 23 October.

The TEDx organizing team in Aachen is looking for new members!
The student initiative organizes one TEDx conference in the form of a full-day event with inspiring talks as well as an interesting framework program. Besides the big conference, they organize multiple smaller events throughout the year.
The team is excited to start organizing the 2019 conference soon. If you like creative work and organizing events, meet TEDx Aachen next Friday (Sept 7) at Humboldt Haus (Pontstraße 41) at 7:30pm and become part of their group!
