- You are motivated and committed and you have the ability and interest to deal with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- You follow an independent, structured and very reliable way of working.
- You are fluent in written and spoken German and English; further foreign language skills are advantageous.
- You have good knowledge of the standard Microsoft Office programs.
- You like working in a team and are able to work under pressure.
- You are available to the International Office for the entire duration of the introductory phase (01.08.2019-31.10.2019)
Your tasks
- Supporting the organization, implementation and follow-up of the Welcome Week for new international students
- Matching BeBuddy pairs within the BeBuddy project
- Advice and support for newly arriving (guest) students and researchers with searching for accommodation
- Mainly English correspondence by email, letter, telephone, and sometimes also in person
- Maintenance of databases and electronic information materials (Web, Info sheets, Facebook)
The regular weekly working time is 19 hours. This can be done either by one position or two positions with 9 and 10 hours per week respectively.

3) You want to help internationals in learning German? Sign up as a German tutor and get your commitment recognized (Certificate International)
To all our German speaking students: Sign up as a German tutor and help your international fellows to learn German in a nice and relaxed atmosphere.
The International Office organizes German mentoring meetings in the Humboldthaus every Friday, 1-3pm. German speaking students act as tutors to international students and provide them with additional support in learning German. You can just sit and talk about different topics, exchange interesting information about your studies or read German newspapers or other interesting texts together. Eight hours of work as a German tutor are recognized as a component of the Certificate International<http://www.rwth-aachen.de/go/id/bxgy>.

4) Call for nominations: DAAD Prize 2019
To all international students: The DAAD Prize awards academically excellent international students and PhD candidates for their social and intercultural engagement.
RWTH Aachen University faculties, university organizations, RWTH student associations and the student union AStA can nominate international students and PhD students for the 2019 DAAD Award who have particularly excelled academically and are also socially or interculturally active. Important: Students cannot apply themselves. They have to be nominated by one of the institutions mentioned above. If you are socially and interculturally active and you perform well during your studies, please approach one of the institutions above, e. g. the ASTA or your faculty’s study advisor, in order to ask for a contact person to nominate you.
The award amounts to € 1,000. International students and PhD students who are advanced in their studies (Bachelor: at least 3rd semester, Master: at least 2nd semester) or have recently completed their studies (in the last three months) or are completing their doctoral studies at RWTH Aachen University can be nominated. Exchange students and students who have acquired a German university entrance qualification (Bildungsinländer) or students who have already received the DAAD Award cannot be considered.
Nomination deadline is June 11, 2019.

The Day of Integration<https://tagderintegration-aachen.de/> takes place once a year with diverse, cultural performances, sports demonstrations, and presentations in Aachen. The hosts are the initiatives, associations, institutions, and companies from Aachen and the surrounding area. Are you interested in getting involved with the organization team to help shape the day and thus gather valuable experiences? The team is especially looking for someone to help organizing the conference rooms. You will get a certificate at the end which also can be considered for the Certificate International<http://www.rwth-aachen.de/cms/root/Studium/Im-Studium/Engagement-Freizeit/E…>. 4) Learning to learn – have a look in the new film series of the RWTH Student Advice Centre
How to design a learning plan? How do you prepare for a difficult exam? How to deal with extensive learning material? How do you plan your time in exam preparation? The psychological team of the RWTH Central Student Advisory Service has produced a five-part film series on learning plan design.
