In our search for European partner organizations we came across your institution and would like to invite you to participate in this proposal. As non-European organization you could participate via European acencies. The project ECW (European Collaboration World) aims at the development, implementation and validation of the worldwide first integrative fully immersive 3D collaboration world application which can be used by any user to collaborate in a total immersion 3D live online collaboration environment steering his own person´s live representation with latest developed gaming technology as e.g. cyberspace glasses and gloves. ECW realises modern collaborative work concepts integrating already existing most innovative technology from different innovative collaboration and elearning areas. The objective is to support companies with an easy-to-use, natural 3D interface that allowes autonomous and individualized synchronous and asynchronous collaboration at work basing on animation technology of modern computer games. Please see project details and partner profiles in the appended document "ECW-Project-Description-Partners.doc". If you feel your organization fits one or more of the profile descriptions please contact us and let us know in what way and which part of the proposed project you would like to participate. The submission deadline for this call is September 21st 2005. Alternatively to the STREP we think about starting the project in an already existing big integrated environment (Media@Work IP project, info: http://europa.eu.int/information_society/activities/atwork/work_paradigms/am i_family/index_en.htm) or, in 2007, in a different EU program. It is also worth discussing about the development of a full immersive elearning environment within another EU program in 2007 (in 2006 no technology programs will be offered). The participation in the Integrated Project will primarily depend on if we will be able to have a sound technical concept for full immersive collaboration in the next 6 weeks. Thinkable is also to develop only the basic full immersion technology now within the already existing IP project and the whole collaboration environment as described in the project description in a further project. You are free to expand the ECW concept with your ideas and to put yourself into responsible and creative positions in the project. As mixed reality and/or games specialist you are very welcome to take over technical leadership building up the whole technical team as Technical Coordinator (see project description). If you are a company: we are eager to tailor our project to your specific needs. Be invited to share in future collaboration technology! If we apply as STREP, we will focus on open source (PHP, Java; see project description). As part of an IP we most likely won´t have open source and cannot decide about technology ourselves. Therefore please contact us independently from technology, whenever the basic concept appeals to you. We would love to collaborate with or to be integrated into already existing STREP or IP projects as partners, also apart from "European Collaboration World". As Institute for Media Pedagogy we are especially interested and experienced in collaboration and elearning concepts and evaluation. In the first step please send a short profile including information about (1) your organisation, (2) your aims, (3) your role in the project and (4) your experience with international projects. If you have any further questions regarding the project, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately (contact person: Ilona Hündgen). If you are not responsible for our EU project, please forward this mail to the appropriate department(s) of your organization. Feel free to contact external partners if they could fit to the team. Thank you very much! Looking forward to hearing from you.
