I have a very basic question: Is it possible to create a list remotely say, by a perl script or something... The SmartList manual talks about maintaining lists remotely but I was wondering if it could be created as well. Thanks Nishi
Nishi -- SmartList as distributed requires you to open a shell on the list serving host and run createlist. So, using only what's in the SL package, the answer would be no. However, there is nothing to prevent one from creating a suexec cgi program (web) which did this, or I imagine you could create an alias to an email handler which could do this sort of thing e.g. with an interface reminiscent of X-Command... So, if you're willing to cut some code then the answer would be yes, it's very possible. You want to be very aware of security pitfalls, especially since you'll be accepting data across the net that you'll then use to create files on the server. It's an interesting idea. Regards, Pete.
