can the list of subscribers be sorted?
I just set up a Smartlist mailing list, and although I have the documentation I'm still pretty lost. Last night I sent out the first message to the list and of course lots of the emails bounced. I now need to unsubscribe those addresses. I already have hundreds of addresses and expect to eventually have over 1000. How do I find the address to which I need to unsubscribe? I found that if I type in the first letter of the address an address beginning with that letter pops up, but then I have to keep doing this over and over to eventually find the right one. There must be an easier way? Thanks! Lynn

You haven't provided enough information to give you a specific response but a general one is: yes, the subscriber list can be sorted but it needs to be done in a way that preserves the marker line that separates removable and non-removable addresses. Finding particular addresses is easy enough but it does need some familiarity with general unix tools and/or the ability to write small 'programs' to accomplish what you want. Generally, the easiest way is to extend the functionality of the X-Command interface to provide the ease-of-use you need for your particular list(s). Why? Allow SmartList to unsubscribe them for you. (If you're determined to clean the list, why not simply set the value of minbounce to something low, like perhaps 2? If I were doing it, I'd probably set auto_off_threshold to match_threshold just to be safe, but that's just me.) I'm constantly amazed at how well SmartList manages, even with non-standard bounce messages, to figure out the correct address to unsubscribe. Although it DOES occasionally screw up, in my experience it has been terribly rare. Charlie
