Where is your list user's $HOME? For example my user (I called him `list`) has his homedir in /var/list. $ grep list /etc/passwd list:x:990:90:Mailing List:/var/list:/bin/sh So under /var/list I have the ./.etc subdirectory. Is your users homedir pointed to /var/spool/mail?
