Administer not working ?

Hi all - I am using Smartlist preinstalled by my hosting co. When I try to "administer" the list I receive a success message, but nothing happens... Nothing is sent to the maintainers email, no users are subscribed to the list. I have no idea why this is, and my host company has told me that it is working. I really nee to solve this quickly.
