I've gotten several replies on my "not-so-eloquent" method of limiting the posts to the list by making the list a moderated list. The key, and I didn't explain myself all that well, was that one person makes all the posts and he does about one or two a month, so it is not really a chore to type in the authorization and password in his original post, therefore bypassing the moderators. I had never done anything in UNIX before smartlist. I am still learning a great deal every time I work with it, but I needed something simple that was predictable. I've read the manual and several FAQ's, but I still could not seem to delink only one of the three lists I maintain. I always ended up delinking everything. Yes, I think I've since figured out that I can relink the ones I want linked, but I didn't know that then. Since I had to delink the list to keep the accept list limited, the moderated list was an easy solution. All this happened at a time when the list was in an uproar over host's providing the smartlist package, but no support, which was exactly my case. I figured I'd make it work without asking the obviously, rank amateur questions. Thanks to those who replied with solutions, but for now, I'll leave it moderated, especially since I just started receiving the graphics for the makeover of the club web site, and that's going to take a lot of time. I had the same problem and couldn't get it to work. I elected to take the easy way out and make it a moderated list, using a password. When the one individual who makes the posts sends one, he simply includes the authorization and password. Anyone else's posts get bounced back to me.
Not the right answer, but it works just fine,

I am a webmaster who is running smartlist on a Red Hat web server. I haven't figured out how to stop everyone on a list from being able to post to it. One client would like to be the only one posting to the list. I would appreciate any light that can be given to my problem. Also, I wonder if there is some kind of how-to out there that would help me with general questions about Smartlist. Thank-You Mark
