Jim -- Not a FAQ -- I don't remember the topic coming up before, actually. I agree, it doesn't sound like it'd be a big deal to whomp up. Gyelt -- Don't be afraid to tweak the code -- after all, the transparency of SmartList is one of it's biggest benefits -- it's infinitely customizable, and grokking procmail is certainly worth the effort. -ph On Sat, 27 Apr 2002, JimO wrote:

I would like my non-technical list-subscribers to be able to easily switch between a normal and a digested list. So that when they subscribe to one, while already subscribed to the other, the original subscription is (silently) removed. I didn't find a reference on how to do this in the manual or faq. ... Is there a way to do this, without a lot of editing of the sources?
I've been intending to impliment this on my list; I'm sure it can be done with just the rc.custom files and maybe a small shell script, things I can do without much root access on my ISP. (They're very cooperative about adding a script or alias to the system when it does need root access.)
But somehow, it's never bubbled to the top of my priority stack; I put my list-hacking time into spam filtering and quotation removal. And I thought by now digest switching must be implimented in a newer version of SmartList (we run the ancient 3.10 at Eskimo, for some reason :), or that at least it must be a FAQ. Not so?
