When it gets several mails, it can create an archive index sorted by date or by thread (or both indices). You can also have other indices, e.g., by author. It "gets several mails" either at once (you feed an existing UNIX mailbox or directory of mails to it), or as they arrive (this is what you would probably do in conjunction with SmartList--see http://www.ha-schneider.de/software/smartlist/ for an rc file).
