This is correct; in fact, that's what I use.
If you want a more secure unsubscription mechanism for a web interface you need something like passwords, PGP keys or SSL client certificates ;) which is all much more complicated for the ordinary user than simply pushing the reply button of the mail client to confirm a (un)subscription.
Yup. I think that one of the things I'm trying to say is that there is no web mechanism for authentication of an email address equivalent to "I will send mail to this address, and if you get it you can send it back with the key that I put in there and prove that it's really an address you control".
