But you're right, it's been _years_ since he's been around. However, the list belongs to the maintainer (or at least the machine's admin), not the members. You'll get no argument from me that the list should be moved (I believe I said exactly that a couple of times), but to suggest the admins need to take a poll to ask what they may or may not do with the existing list is silly, to say the least. They are certainly able to move this list to mailman without the list subscriber's permission - indeed, they _have_ done so, which makes my point for me. Whether we should move this list to a SmartList server is a completely seperate issue...one which Philip should probably weigh in on, since he is now maintaining the procmail/SmartList source and as such the de facto head of our band of merry wanderers... I want to remove html attachments from postings but the links in the FAQ don't work and seems to be quite old. Could someone give me a working solution for the removal of this garbage? Werner

Conflict between "reply to list" and "[listname]" in header?

I added an rc.local.s10 file to my list directory to add "[listname]" to the headers of all mailing list messages. That worked fine. Then in the rc.custom file, I uncommented "reply_to=$listaddr" and set it o "reply_to="Reply-To: $listaddr". That works, but now I've lost the "[listname]" in the message headers. Can anyone tell me what's going on? Thanks, Lu Rudolph

Can anyone explain to me what this message means in the log? (name and domain changed) choplist: Skipping invalid address entry: "name(a)name.com zenemijr" The address in question is valid...indeed it originates from the same server and is in constant use.... and zenemijr ??? regards David

Hi folks, I try to install SmartList on a providers freebsd server. I have only a virtual-server with only one user-acount 'XAVER'. My mailing is called 'testing'. returning mail

Hi, I couldn't find it on the documentation and the messages on the archive did not reflected exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm writing to the list. I would like procmail to check the size of the mbox file before droping the new arrived message down there. I think this should be something more hardcoded than a rc script. If the size exceeds "x" bytes (pre-defined), I want it to pick up the "From" email address on the begining of the mail and send a mail back to this guy, telling him his message was not delivered. I'm not sure if I have made myself clear, but what I want is something like this: john(a)foobar.com sends a mail to maria(a)mynetwork.com 1) the MX sendmail (MTA) for 'mynetwork.com' will accept the message and engage procmail to deliver the message. 2) procmail will check the size of "maria"s mailbox, and if it's larger than, let's say, MAXMAILBOX (defined in a configuration file anywhe- re), it will get the "From" line (containing john(a)foobar.com) from the body of the email, and send him a predefined message (perhaps a file also defined on the configuration file?). I couldn't find this feature on my release (3.15. 1), and nothing exa- ctly like this discussed here before. Does anyone knows how to do it? Mhonarc and smartlist

Hello to all... Does anyone have any experience of setting up the mail to html program MhonArc with smartlist?... does it work? I've managed to install Mhonarc on a linux server (remotely) but cant seem to manage to get it to pick up the archive. all the best David

subscribers not being mailed

I have a mailing list that contains 78 addresses on it. If I edit the accept file directly, I can see all the names. But, if I send an Xcommand to mail me the addresses on it, I only get 59 names back. People have been complaining that they are not getting the mail. How can I fix this? TIA Joe
