Vortrag - Legal Aspects of Open Source
Open Source: Recognizing Your Rights and Opportunities Montag, 11. September, 14 Uhr im Hörsaal des Rechenzentrums Helen S. Cordell Senior Attorney - Intellectual Property Argonne National Laboratory Argonne, IL 60439 U.S.A. The Open Source Phenomenon has spread throughout the world and has been given growing momentum by the Internet and the World Wide Web. Open source code is by definition made freely available to the general public for modification, alteration, and endless distribution. When code is dedicated as open source, what is the developer giving up? What are the opportunities and the legal pitfalls for those who distribute open source or sell their services to open source users? The discussion will set aside economic considerations, and focus on the conveyance of legal rights and acceptance of legal obligations in open source transactions.
