[OpenMesh] help (Building a subgraph out of a specific trait)

Hello everybody, I hope this is not a stupid question. I traverse across my OpenMesh trimesh object and mark certain edges / faces based on some filtering criterion. Now if i want to build a new Trimesh / Polymesh object out of these faces (for example), what is the best way to do this ? Any help / hints would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
