Dezember 2024, 13:15 Uhr Ort: Raum 118, Erweiterungsbau 3, Ahornstr. 55 Referent: Patrick Schmidt M.Sc. Lehrstuhl für Informatik 8 Thema: Intrinsic Optimization of Maps Between Surfaces Abstract: This talk presents a series of works focusing on the construction and optimization of high-quality maps between surfaces in 3D. These surface maps establish point-to-point correspondences between multiple 3D models, enabling applications such as attribute transfer, shape interpolation, shape co-analysis, compatible remeshing, and more. We introduce a novel framework to generate surface homeomorphisms—maps that guarantee continuity and bijectivity—while minimizing intrinsic mapping distortion. Along the way, we will explore constructions in spherical and hyperbolic geometry and discuss practical solutions for continuous optimization of geometric problems using automatic differentiation.
