Full proofs may appear in a clearly marked technical appendix which will be read at the reviewers' discretion. Authors are strongly encouraged to include a well written introduction which is directed at all members of the PC. Over time, its aim has evolved and expanded; DL can be seen now as a general set of ideas and tools devised for representing, describing and reasoning about diverse kind of actions, including (but not limited to) frameworks tailored for specific programming problems/ paradigms (e.g., separation logics), settings for modelling new computing domains (e.g., probabilistic, continuous and quantum computation), frameworks for reasoning about information dynamics (e.g., dynamic epistemic logics) and systems for reasoning about long term information dynamics (e.g., learning theory). We invite applications for a fully funded PhD position at the University of Tartu, Estonia, in the area of logic in computer science, database theory, and semiring semantics. The research explores how classical logical and complexity-theoretic tools can be extended to models and computations enriched with semirings—a framework underlying annotated databases, provenance, confidence scoring, and related applications. Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field; background and interest in logic, theoretical computer science, or database theory. Opportunities: Work in the modern Delta Centre, home to the University of Tartu's Institute of Computer Science. ACKERMANN AWARD 2025 EACSL OUTSTANDING DISSERTATION AWARD FOR LOGIC IN COMPUTER SCIENCE CALL FOR NOMINATIONS Nominations are now invited for the 2025 Ackermann Award. PhD dissertations in topics specified by the CSL and LICS conferences, which were formally accepted as PhD theses at a university or equivalent institution between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024 are eligible for nomination for the award. The deadline for submission is 1 July 2025. Nominations should be submitted by the candidate or the supervisor via Easychair: https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=ackermann2025 Please submit a pdf file containing: 1. a summary in English of the thesis (maximum 10 pages), providing a gentle introduction and overview of the thesis, highlighting the novel results and their impact and including a link to the thesis in the first page (please do not include the thesis itself); 2. a supporting letter by the PhD advisor and two supporting letters by other senior researchers (in English); 3. a copy of a document stating that the thesis was accepted as a PhD thesis at a recognised University (or equivalent institution) and that the candidate was awarded the PhD degree within the specified period; 4. a short CV of the candidate. *** The Award The 2025 Ackermann award will be presented to the recipient(s) at CSL 2026. Call for Participation Logic Mentoring Workshop (LMW@LICS 2025) Singapore 23 June 2025 https://logic-mentoring-workshop.github.io/lics25/ Co-located with Logic in Computer Science (LICS) 2025 Students can apply to have their expenses covered by the Logic Mentoring Workshop Travel Support (see below). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Attending a conference such as LICS can be a transformative experience. It exposes participants to cutting-edge research and can open up new research avenues and collaboration opportunities. The Logic Mentoring Workshop introduces young researchers to the technical and practical aspects of a career in logic research. It is targeted at students, from senior undergraduates to doctoral students, and will include tutorials and plenary talks as well as a panel discussion, where experienced researchers from the field answer career-related questions from the audience. The workshop will be an on-site event, co-located with the Logic in Computer Science conference (LICS’25, https://lics.siglog.org/) one of the most prestigious conferences on the topic. REGISTRATION and PROGRAM Registration will be set up through the LICS website at a later date. Registration fees will be kept very low.
