Dear Doc.net users, This is to invite you to participate in a two day workshop on intercultural communication. The workshop will take place on June 3 - 4 in the Humboldt Haus. Sincerely Ulrike Brands DETAILED INFORMATION Workshop on Intercultural Communication on June 3 and 4, 2009 (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) The workshop aims on providing international and German students with a structure for understanding the "cultural logic" behind how different cultures meet and build relationships, discuss and solve problems, make decisions, teach and learn, offer help and hospitality. Equally important, the interactive approach trains to develop the practical skills needed to move with confidence and competence in unfamiliar or unexpected situations. The application- and practice-oriented workshop is designed as a "hands-on" two-day event which will take place on consecutive days and be given in English. Drawing on real-life case studies, group activities , and role-play simulation, the workshop provides an applications-based approach and the opportunity for learners to try out the knowledge and tools acquired. The chair Ms. Alexia Petersen, M.A. (Canadian) is an international trainer of intercultural communication and works with numerous academic institutions and commercial organisations in Germany and abroad. She chairs the popular workshop at RWTH Aachen University regularly. The workshop takes place at Humboldt-Haus, Pontstr. 41, on June 3 and 4 (this is the "pentecost and field trip week") and is free of charge. As the number of participants is strictly limited to 14 people, please register early.
