Invitation to Evaluate LLM-based Tool for Semantic Annotation and Knowledge Graph Creation for Research Data

Thanks and best regards, Soo-Yon ------------------------------------ Dear all, We invite you to participate in a short study to evaluate KONDA, a new web-based tool we developed to support Research Data Management (RDM). KONDA helps researchers turn their datasets and associated documents into structured, reusable knowledge graphs. By leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), it automatically extracts key entities, identifies relationships, and maps them to existing ontologies, with the goal of making research data more interoperable and machine-readable. What to expect: * Duration ca. 30 minutes * Three-part structure of the survey: - Researcher's background - Trying out KONDA with a provided dataset (and optionally your own) - Feedback on usability and usefulness * All necessary instructions, links, and access details are provided at the beginning of the survey. Dear RDM community @ RWTH, this is a gentle reminder of our RDM network meeting tomorrow (April 24, 10 - 11:30 am). It is a topic special focusing on AI support in research. The agenda includes: 1. AI-supported scientific writing: Focus on literature research Lena Nietzschmann will provide a general introduction to AI tools in scientific writing with a specific focus on literature research. Some exemplary tools will be shown as well as techniques to find and analyze relevant publications. 2. Ontology-Based Annotation of Research Data Using LLMs Soo-Yon Kim will present the preliminary results of a master thesis. A tool was developed to semi-automatically add concepts from ontologies to research data using LLM and visualise them as knowledge graphs. In addition we want to open the floor for discussion and exchange on the use of AI tools in your research practice. Further short flash talks are welcome, if you are currently working on something related to the topic that you would like to share or get feedback on. Call for Contributions DSgG 2025 & Data Steward Community Germany

Dear Data Stewards@RWTH, the Call for Contributions for "Data Stewardship goes Germany 2025" (DSgG 2025) is open! This year's workshop will focus on "Data Stewardship in Day-to-Day Research Activities - Use Cases and Best Practices". The event will take place from 30 September to 1 October 2025 in Karlsruhe and will provide an excellent opportunity to network with peers and share experiences from daily data stewardship practice. Submission of abstracts (until 12 May 2025) via the event website: https://indico.kit.edu/event/5012/ In addition, I would also like to take the opportunity to share some updates on the development of a German Data Steward Community. As many of you may remember, initial steps toward building such a community were taken during the Community Canvas sessions at DSgG 2024 in Aachen. Since then, working groups have been established focusing on Vision & Strategy, Channels & Yellow Pages, and Challenges. The current status of this nationwide community and ideas for the next steps will be discussed at the upcoming DSgG interim meeting, which will take place online on 15th May 2025 (12-14h). Dear RDM Community at RWTH, I would like to draw your attention to an exciting training opportunity, which is especially interesting for those who want to get started with Python programming: In cooperation with NFDI4Earth, the Hessian State Initiative for Research Data Management (HeFDI) is organising the HeFDI Code School. The Basic Track is aimed at beginners to programming and includes three hands-on online workshops: * Fr 09th May 2025 | 9-13h | Introduction to Python and Jupyter Notebooks * Fr 16th May 2025 | 9-13h | Data Manipulation with Pandas and Basic Plotting * Fr 23rd May 2025 | 9-13h | Interactive Visualizations and Web Development with Streamlit The Participation is free and open to all researchers even from outside Hessen.
