And within its first year of operation, this new production company has started receiving support and interest for its projects and services from people all over the world. The first step towards the company’s mission has been to take each project's central issue and locate a charity which has dedicated itself to bringing national or worldwide awareness to that same cause. That charity becomes the designated recipient of a 1-5% profit sharing donation. The second step towards the mission is to allow people who might not otherwise be able to participate in the filmmaking process to finally be able to do so. The third step is to assist screenwriters in creating projects that are marketable. With over 100 outside consultants on board, Earth Lion Productions has assembled a talented team of professionals from studio readers to produced writers who are experienced in script coverage, analysis, repair, formatting, and ghostwriting. By becoming a filter for scripts that would otherwise go into the industry's "sludge" pile, the company hopes to slow down unsolicited mass mailings and save some trees. The final step towards the mission is getting the films onto the big screen. In its first initiative, Earth Lion Productions has launched Chameleon Tree LLC to be the development, production, and distribution vehicle for the romantic comedy/drama Chameleon Tree (chameleontreemovie.com). The power of this story is in its realistic dramatization of a universal experience shared by millions of people with multi-racial identity and relationship turmoil. With a projected budget of just under $5 Million, development and production are targeted for Spring/Summer 2005.
