Das 7. Internationale Bitfilm-Festival für digitalen Film verlängert seinen Einreichschluss. Bis zum 15. Juli 2006 können Filmemacher unter www.bitfilm.com/festival ihre Werke online einreichen. Alle ausgewählten Filme werden von August bis Oktober 2006 auf der Bitfilm-Site zur Abstimmung stehen. Die Internet-Community bestimmt per Online-Voting, welche Filme die Bitfilm Awards gewinnen. Einreichungen sind für die folgenden Wettbewerbs-Kategorien möglich: 3D SPACE AWARD Dreidimensionale Animationen aus dem Computer FX MIX AWARD Filme in Mischtechnik, z.B. Realfilm mit digitalen Effekten kombiniert FLASH AWARD Animationen, die mit Macromedia Flash produziert wurden MACHINIMA AWARD Mit Game Engines in Echtzeit gedrehte Filme DEMO AWARD Software, die im Computer in Echtzeit Animationen erzeugt MICROMOVIE AWARD Filme für die kleinen Bildschirme mobiler Geräte GRAND PRIX TV DIGITAL Abendfüllende, digital animierte Kinofilme (nur Trailer im Internet) Die Preise sind mit insgesamt 10 000 Euro dotiert. Außerdem erhält der Gewinner jeder Kategorie eine Bitfilm-Roboter-Statue. Unter den Teilnehmern der Abstimmung werden wertvolle Sachpreise verlost. Die Gewinnchancen sind dabei umso höher, je aktiver man an der "viralen" Verbreitung der Filme mitgewirkt hat. Der Live-Teil des Festivals im Hamburger Kult-Stadtteil St. Pauli kehrt wieder auf seinen bewährten Termin Anfang November zurück. Die Preisverleihung findet am Mittwoch, dem 1. November 2006 im Café Keese (Reeperbahn 19 - 21) statt. Alle nominierten Filme werden vom 2. bis 4. November im Mandarin Kasino (Reeperbahn 1) zu sehen sein. Abgerundet wird das Festival-Programm durch audiovisuelle Live-Shows mit internationalen Künstlern, Workshops und Parties.
